Don Pepe restaurant is a family owned business and has proudly served the Pembroke Pines area for over 26 years.
Our family immigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1984. Our father, Humberto Nieto Sr., started working in the restaurant business at the young age of 19. Although he did not speak any English, he was able to find a position as a dishwasher at a local Cuban restaurant in Hollywood. From dishwasher he worked his way up to a chef where he learned and developed his cuisine skills. My father made an important decision to work outside of the kitchen to becoming a busboy. He knew the pay wasn’t as beneficial but this was a learning step he needed. After a few weeks, he became a waiter and starting to build his clientele. Soon thereafter he married my mother, Elizabeth Nieto, and both began planning the opening of a restaurant.

Best customer service
In 1990 Don Pepe opened its doors and became one of the first Latin cuisine restaurants in Pembroke Pines.
My father focused on preparing the food while my mother concentrated on working the front of the house. The skills and knowledge he gained throughout the years were passed down on to my mother and then ultimately to us.
Because of his vast and diverse experience in the restaurant business, we are able to provide our customers with a superb dining experience. We pay attention to detail and customer service. Not only do we strive to provide the best quality of food but we also try to provide the best quality of service. The same hard work and dedication that our father applied to his restaurant career is the same work ethic that was implemented in our upbringing.
The work ethic we provide today is a direct result of our family’s hard work and we could not be any prouder of what they have created. We seek to reinvent traditional Cuban and Mexican dishes by using new techniques and creating modern day versions of conventional recipes. In addition, we use healthy ingredients without sacrificing any flavors. Aside from our customer service, our home style cooking and fresh ingredients are what separates us from other Latin restaurants. After all, we have been in the restaurant business for over 23 years. Lastly, we would like to thank all of our customers for all their support, we could not have done it without you.
